Waterside Arts Festival has finalised their programme and are so excited to share with you the details of all the events happening over the week. What are you looking forward to most?
Saturday 7th September

Cartoon Capers join international cartoonists, creating masterpieces for you in Hythe village centre (9am – 4 pm), plus workshops and talks* for you to discover even more

Joli Vyann enjoy a performance of the specially commissioned show “Life’s a Beach” in Prospect Place, Hythe (12 noon and 2.30 pm)

Live Music from 1 pm in the Dusty Barrel

Talk Nerdy to MeStand up with Jon Matthews Comedy (7.30 pm Hythe Parish Hall)*

Sunday 8th September

The Great Egg Race get creative with your family to design and make a vehicle to protect your egg (11 am, Gang Warily Recreation Centre followed by a community picnic

History Discover Hythe’s fascinating history with the knowledgeable Sarah Marsden (11 am)*

Drumming workshop make some noise with Mike Vaughan (2.30 pm, Fawley Jubilee Hall)*

La Chimera enjoy the acclaimed Italian comedy film starring Josh O’Connor (7.30 pm Fawley Jubilee Hall)*

Monday 9th September

Crochet workshop join Alysa to learn how to make a simple granny square (1 pm Dibden Purlieu Community Hall)*

Abstract acrylics workshop Carolyne will support you in creating your masterpiece (3 pm Dibden Purlieu Community Hall)*

Macrame workshop Tracy will introduce you to this textile craft (7.15 pm Hythe Community Centre)*

Tuesday 10th September

Bird Box and lathe turning demonstration Hythe shed open their doors to share what’s on offer (11 am)

Act You Age have some fun with the professionals from Forest Forge Theatre Company (10 am, venue TBC)*

Poetry an opportunity to share your creations, or enjoy those of others (5.30 pm Black Wax Coffee and Records)

Quiz the first ever Waterside Arts quiz, put your knowledge to the test (7.30 pm The Glen)

Wednesday 11th September

Tote bag workshop let Natalie guide you through creating using recycled materials (10 am Hythe Sea Scout Hut)*

Ceramic tile/coaster painting creative with this fun painting workshop with Julie (1.30 pm Blackfield QE2 Hall)*

Creative Cafe join Martin for a Festival week special of this regular event where you can try out a variety of visual arts (6 pm Meeple Village)*

Clay poppy workshop Julie will help you get the most from this satisfying medium (7.15 pm Hythe Community Centre)*

Thursday 12th September

Macrame plant holder workshop join Tracy in this fun new workshop (10 am QE2 Blackfield QE2 Hall)*

Creative printing with Lino Kate will show you the basics of carving and printing in this workshop (1 pm Marchwood Village Hall)*

Weave a wall hanging using twigs and branches and enjoy handling and manipulating colourful threads to make your own beautiful, original wall hanging (3.30 pm Marchwood Village Hall)*

Cabin Crew enjoy a captivating performance of traditional barbershop singing (6 pm Meeple Village)

The Big Sing join Dan Cooper to learn two fantastic songs (7.30 pm Hythe Parish Hall)*

Saturday 14th September

Family-friendly musician afternoon to enjoy featuring DJ Arf, BAT2K Samba Band, Tannersbrook country & bluegrass, Hampshire teachers choir, Yodelling Bob and Frontline (from 1 pm, The Forest Home)

Throughout the week you’ll be able to view the postcard gallery of “Wildlife of the Waterside in Hythe Library – Hampshire County Council and the cartoon gallery in the shop windows of Hythe
