Songs from the Sea

About the event

Songs from the Sea is a free event where stories and music are used as starting points for memories, conversation and reflection across generations.

Join us at The Bridge Community Centre in Milford on Sea, for a fantastic session led by songwriter and community arts facilitator, Esther Keappock, and a local accordion player and storyteller. Together, they will present a curated selection of maritime songs connected to coastal life and local heritage. Each song is introduced with a short context designed to prompt personal memories and reflections.

Rather than a formal performance, this session is a guided shared listening experience for children and adults of all ages. Songs are used as entry points for storytelling, with participants invited to contribute spoken memories, lived experiences, ideas and reflections. You are welcome to take part, or just come along and listen!

When: Saturday 19th September 2026, time to be confirmed (afternoon)
Where: The Bridge, 9 Sea Road, Milford on Sea, Lymington SO41 0PH

This is a free event, designed to celebrate local voices and strengthen community connection through song, story and place.

Songs from the Sea builds on Esther’s ongoing practice through the ‘From Story to Song’ workshop series, currently delivered at Coda Arts and Music Centre, and wider research into New Forest folk songs and stories.
