Creative Community Commissions in the New Forest

A host of new arts and creative projects and clubs are popping up across the New Forest, thanks to our recent Creative Community Commissions.

The commissions of up to £1500 were open to New Forest groups setting up projects for local residents that demonstrated artistic flair together with real community impact. The groups were asked to consider co-design as part of their application, to make sure the club fits with the needs of the community and show how it would attract people that are not always able to access traditional clubs.

Some of the creative projects funded include Dance Events in Totton and Langley, a Cinema for young people in Calshot, Nature Journalling sessions in Pennington, Theatre Workshops in Ringwood and Arts Equipment in Fordingbridge, to name a few!

Culture in Common is an Arts Council funded creative people and places programme. Set up specifically for New Forest residents, the programme aims to create more opportunities for people to see and take part in creative activities in their local communities.

This spring will see new projects and activities join the events line-up which already includes craft workshops, creative walkshops, youth theatre, creative writing and dance.
