Drum Runners’ Junk Band

Percussive fun for families in Marchwood.

25 children, young people and their families in Marchwood took part in a junk band session as part of our taster programme in August 2022. The idea came from a young person at one of Marcwhood’s Army family youth clubs, who asked for local music activities.

Run by Paul Midgley of the Drum Runners, the outdoor workshop featured brilliantly colourful percussion instruments, injecting energy, rhythm and even eco awareness into a bright sunny day on Lloyd Recreation Ground. All the participants we asked said they would like to try something like this again, and we discussed hosting more events on the Rec in future.

Thanks to partners The Handy Trust & Army Welfare Office for helping make this happen.
